Another morning, another thick wall of fog rolling through Westbrook’s forests and swamps. Commuters found themselves creeping along the winding roads, headlights barely cutting through the dense mist. But for locals, this was nothing new—just another slow start in a town where the fog always lingers a little longer.
“It’s the kind of morning where you take your time,” said Martha Ellison, a veteran bus driver on the Westbrook–Lakeview route. “No point rushing when you can’t even see the end of the street.”
Some businesses delayed opening, while early risers at Hollow Tree Café simply sipped their coffee a little longer, watching the world disappear into the gray haze. Fishermen along the marshes waited for the fog to lift, their boats barely visible from the shore.
The Signi Weather Bureau expects clearer skies by noon, but as one regular at Hollow Tree put it, “Fog’s just part of life here. You don’t fight it—you move with it.”
